Angelo Nogara with his hunting buddy, Trooper Chukar Hunting 2010-2011 Chukar Hunting Seasons GENERAL SEASON: The third Saturday in October through the last Sunday in January (Oct 16 - Jan 30). ARCHERY SEASON The third Saturday in August extending for 21 consecutive days (Aug 21 - Sep 10) and during the general season. Daily Bag Limit: Daily bag limit is 6 chukar. Possession Limit: Double the daily bag limit (12 chukar). Shoot Time: One half hour before sunrise to sunset. Chukar Hunting: To hunt chukar, you must possess a valid California hunting license and an upland game bird stamp. Hunters under the age of 12 may hunt if they have taken and passed a hunter safety course and possess a valid California hunting license.
